Work

Disclaimer: I am not being compensated, well-respected, or fed anything to tell you this company or this product are great. These are my thoughts for you, for fun.

My boys wearing their LifeVantage onesies.

I am excited to share with ya'll how and where I spend the majority of my daily life.

So I am a Marketer for LifeVantage Corporation. Let me begin by telling you about LifeVantage. We may have to save "What is the 'marketing' that you do" for another post — we'll see how it goes.

LifeVantage is a networking marketing, multi-level, or direct sales company. Roll your eyes, replace company for "scam", and sneer if you'd like, but over the course of my time with networking marketing companies, and in particular, LifeVantage, I have come to see that they are not what I thought they were and definitely not what most people think they are.

LifeVantage's main product is a supplement called Protandim. Protandim does many things but the gist of it is that it is proven through various clinical trials to enduce your body to produce three enzymes (SOD, catalase and glutathione). When you're young your body uses these enzymes at a high level to fight the millions of free radicals your body produces every second. But, as you get older your body produces less and less of these enzymes which leads to many of the effects of aging.

I recently came across an example of how glutathione levels for example can affect us in a children's health blog. Pay attention to the glutathione section (nothing to do with the product or the company) but if you're interested enough you can see one example of how this product can affect people.

Could keep going but delving into the details could get lengthy but this is actually a very big deal. No other supplement can do this and it's effects are far reaching. That's why more than 15 Universities (see a few here) are studying it nationwide using THEIR OWN money and initiative. You really have to watch this short video of our product to get it.

What do I have to do with all this?

I work with and manage a team of three to do but not limited to the strategies and implementation of the following —

  • Our Website - lifevantage.com and lvnmedia.com
  • Brand Management - Ensuring that LifeVantage is presented and represented appropriately at every interaction it has with its customers, vendors, investors, employees, etc. This is one of my favorite responsibilities. Coming up with the colors, logo, and various packing items were some of my favorite projects this year.
  • Email Marketing - Campaigns to various customer types.
  • Corporate Marketing Materials - Everything from business cards, shirts, banners, signage, brochures, flyers, presentations, etc.
  • Product Marketing - Determining product message points and product position and sending that message through our marketing channels.
  • Monthly and Quarterly Newsletters
  • Business Marketing - Determining business opportunity message points and unique position and sending that message through our marketing channels
  • Social Networking - Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, blog.
  • Promotions - Various incentive promotions and campaigns to increase sales.
  • A little PR
It has been fun to work for LifeVantage in its "start up" phase over the past year. It has been a challenge to conceptualize, create and distribute various projects on very little money and resources. I have learned a great deal and look forward to what will come.

It's fun and I enjoy what I do.

Zrii -- Launched

Pictured Above: Old Mill Golf Course and McKinley from Sound Concepts, one of our partners.

The launch event of Zrii started with a golf tournament for the Zrii Foundation at the Old Mill golf course. Despite the rain, the IEs, corporate executives and vendors golfed anywhere from 3-17 holes. My job was to capture the event with video and photo. I took pictures of course, but hired professionals for the real work. The photographer and I were so cold, I couldn't move my hands when we got back.

Wednesday night a VIP Dinner was held at the Cucina Tuscana restaurant. If anybody is looking for an extraordinary Italian restaurant in Utah this is your place. Recently it was named Salt Lake City's best restaurant and best Italian. We went all out to help our VIPs have a special night. All were picked up at their hotels with limos, walked the red carpet, and had a top-quality dinner on the company. My responsibilities (with my boss) included creating the invitation for the event and again capturing it with video and photo.

4,500 people were at the event...the biggest launch event ever in network marketing history as far as anybody has been able to verify. We heard from Deepak Chopra, David Simon, Max Simon (from the Chopra Center), Thurl Bailey, Chris Gardner (Pursuit of Happyness Story) and David Greenspan (Chopra Center)

The general session room and store were larger than life. I've posted few pictures above. At the end of the event a BMW M4 was given away...to somebody else :( Amanda came up after work every night to stay with me. She made the long days better. Below is the family waiting for the entertainment to start on Friday night. Haven had a Senior All-Star softball game so they joined us after. Jason Hewlett entertained us with his impersonations - it was pretty funny.

Zrii

Cody no longer works at Nu Skin. Surprise! Cody is now a Marketing Manager at Zrii. He started Monday morning and today he will finish his first week at Zrii. He has been very busy. His first week he had an off-site meeting to organize convention, a dinner meeting with some doctors from India, and a Jazz game tonight with his team. I'm not so sure I like this new arrangement with him being gone more then in the past but I'll have to adjust! I guess I'll have to start a new hobby (post about that to come later).

A couple of months ago, Cody's old boss from Nu Skin started recruiting him to work under her at Zrii. We were both pretty skeptical at first but after a month and a half of interviewing, Cody felt it was a great opportunity. He even interviewed with the CEO of the company, Billionaire Bill Farley. I thought that was pretty cool.

So we left the security of big Nu Skin for a new growing Zrii! We'll see how it goes!

Nu Skin Rockin Holiday Eve

Tuesday night Nu Skin had their big Christmas Holiday Party at UVSC. We were so excited to see what they would give away to their employees this year. Nu Skin is very generous to their employees during the holiday season! The night started out with Chunga from some radio station here in Utah as the host, sorry I don't know what station because we don't listen to radio anymore. Then Ryan Shupe and the Ruberband entertained us for an hour. They are really good and my favorite song of the night was Dream Big. If you haven't heard them before, look them up on you tube or itunes. So after the band was done, the exciting part started. Nu Skin gave away about $500,000 worth of stuff from iPods to Jazz tickets to the grand prize of round trip fare and 3 night stay in Vegas AND VIP Bowl tickets to watch the Cougars beat UCLA! To win all these great prizes your name has to be drawn out of hundreds of employees. It's just a game of luck. We didn't win anything this year but that is okay. Nu Skin gave out portable DVD players to all their employees as well as the usual Christmas Bonus, a paid vacation day called "Blake Days" and Nu Skin product. Also, Cody and a group of employees were nominated for the Platinum Elite Emlpoyee award for their oustanding work on the development of the Nu Skin global branding project. The group didn't win but each person of the group did receive cash for being nominated! Sweet!

THEN.... Wednesday morning Cody and Shad (Shad works in the lab editing photos) went to Costco where Nu Skin gave out $100 gift cards to all their employees that showed up. During the two hour party, there are little games set up around Costco where you can win $5 gift cards for sinking a putt, throwing a football through a tire or winning a hula hoop contest. Cody and Shad went nuts and spent the whole 2 hours trying to win cards. Shad and Cody won around 15 cards each... crazy! So now it looks like the family will be getting gifts from Costco this year! We love Nu Skin! :)

My First Solo Business Trip

I spent the majority of the weekend in Big Bear Lake City in California. I took advantage of our World Mark membership to stay in one of our resorts there in Big Bear. It was pretty nice.I went to present Photomax to a group of Nu Skin distributors. I left on Friday morning and returned Saturday evening. I wanted to go a couple of hours west to visit my brother Lant on his mission in Long Beach but on Mother's Day he said no way.

I have to say that Utah is much prettier than the areas in California I saw. I never knew California was such a dead desert (and very smoggy)! Also, I was very impressed with a little restaurant I stopped at for lunch called Red Brick Pizza. I also recommend the Peppercorn Grille in Big Bear if you're ever passing through.

The final thing I want to mention about my trip this weekend was how much influence the Latin American population has in that area. I was amazed. I got the chance to talk to a very nice Mexican couple who were telling me about their experience in the U.S. It was pretty cool to be speaking Spanish again--its been two years since my mission in Mexico and I still felt pretty comfortable.

Although I missed my Amanda it was a good experience.
