Cody & I went through infertility for 2 years before having the boys. We tried various fertility medicines and procedures until finally we were told we would have to do IVF/ICSI (the one where they insert the sperm into the egg) During infertility we were told we had less than a 2% chance of getting pregnant naturally, basically no chance. So we assumed that if we want any more children after the boys we would have to save up $15,000 to have another child.
About 6 months ago Cody and I both were feeling like if we could get pregnant naturally we would probably start trying about then. So it was time to start saving or get a baby loan to do IVF. Also at this time I was considering getting on birth control to help control my hormones, they were out of control. The day I went to call the doctor I had a strong feeling of, "but what if". So I put down the phone and left it at that.
Fast forward to the week I started potty training the end of September. Haven & Joe moved into our house and Cody was gone for a week in Holland. Potty training was so hard on me, I cried all the time and it just seemed that something wasn't right. Potty training shouldn't be this hard on me. Why am I crying?? A thought popped in my head, "shouldn't my period have started this week?" I looked on my iPhone app and sure enough I was 5 days late. NO WAY!
The night Cody got home from Holland we went to the store and I peed on 3 tests!! We both cried so hard and were in disbelief. In fact, I've been in disbelief really until today. How did we get pregnant!! Okay okay, I know how but HOW?? We were told it wouldn't happen and now we are blessed with another amazing miracle in our lives.
Infertility is not a fun trial and I barely scratched the surface of our journey on how we got the boys. Hopefully soon now that I've come out of the IVF closet on the blog I'll do a post to journalize the whole process. If it would help someone else out there dealing with infertility then it would be worth it to put myself out there.
What an amazing feeling of having a miracle happen in your life. I truly know that this baby is supposed to come at this time and I'm so grateful to a loving Heavenly Father who knows his children individually and blesses them. What a miracle.
Yes, I had to take 3 tests to make sure!!!
Only ONE baby!!! 6 weeks 4 days
7 weeks 4 days
All the rest of the pictures are from today - 12 weeks 5 days
It's always a relief when you see the baby has 4 limbs!
and 5 fingers
Strong heart beat! Such a relief!
The dreaded tummy picture. I feel like I'm the same size now as I was with my twins at 12 weeks. After having twins and getting so big I'm definitely stretched out. I just don't want to be huge again but I'm feeling like it's inevitable. I better start exercising once I feel better.
As far as this pregnancy, it's completely different. When 6 weeks came I got so sick! I would have loved just morning sickness but from about 6 weeks to 8 weeks it was all day sickness and I'm so tired. I couldn't do anything or even function. Then thankfully after 8 weeks the nausea started at about 3pm and got so bad at night. Thankfully I was able to take a unisom to help me go to sleep. I'm still sick and hopefully it'll go away around 14 weeks.
3.5 more weeks and we get to find out the gender. I'm anxious to find out what we are having. I also look at my boys and how much trouble they get into daily and worry if I can do it!
The boys turn 3 on May 22nd and we are due May 31st!
Here's to hoping for a low maintenance pregnancy.
pps - now you know why I've been missing from the blogging world
