Finally at 3.5 years we decided it was time to take the boys to the dentist. We have tons of pediatric dentists around here and tons of people I know take their kids to them. I decided that the boys didn't need to be babied and decided to take them to our family dentist. They were so excited to go to the dentist and asked all day long if it was time to go.
They did so well. I was so nervous that they'd freak out but they laid still and opened wide for the dentist. They both got to watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates for some of the cleaning and they loved it. They love Jake. Trey was his normal calm quiet self in a new environment and Carter was his little charismatic self. Carter's hygienist laughed at him the whole time. He was saying the funniest things and calling her a silly goose. He's a character. It's so funny how different the boys are.
Both boys didn't have any cavities and the Dentist was happy with their teeth. So it was totally worth all those months of pinning them down while they kicked and screamed to brush their teeth. They are really good now about letting us brush their teeth. We just need to get into the routine of having them brush in the morning and we brush them at night.
We have a little jingle we sing when we brush their teeth. It goes, brusha brusha brusha, brush those little teeth, and if you do not brush them you'll get a cavity. They love it.
Afterwards we stopped by McDonald's for an ice cream cone to celebrate no cavities. Or as the boys like to say, holes in their teeth. They loved the dentist.
