Nursery Crafts

I'm not a big craft person but I seemed to have gotten myself into a lot of crafts preparing for Baby Girl's nursery.

First project I tackled - Fabric poms

You have to trace and cut 300+ fabric circles and then glue gun them to paper lanterns. What a project!!! I think I started in February and finished end of April! HA

My fingers did not enjoy this project. I got several nice blisters from burning myself.

Annie introduced me to the cutest fabric store - Fabric Mill! They have awesome fabrics and so I decided to learn how to sew a straight line and make bibs, lovey blankets, and a big blanket. I actually really enjoyed the sewing part. I might have to get a sewing machine.

Headband and bow ribbon board. The easiest project I made for the nursery and below are some prints that Cody and I did for the walls to put in frames.

This is one print that will go on the wall above the changing table but of course with her info. 

These are Anthropologie knock of fabric letters. I'll do the same but in her name!

The last thing I need to finish for the nursery is find some curtains on sale like these or make some.

See pretty crafty huh. Okay maybe not for most but for me that's a lot. I get all excited to start the projects but in the middle I wonder why did I get myself into this!!! Hopefully it'll all come together in the end.

Big thanks to Annie for helping me design and plan all these projects out and thanks to Cody for looking the other way and being supportive of my crazy ideas. He even helped cut out a few circles.

Board & Batten

I've always loved wood work. I love houses that have tons of molding and wainscoting. I convinced Cody that if we were having a girl that he'd let me put up board and batten in the nursery. Once we found out we were having a girl I think he regretted his decision. So what to do...

Call Dad!! He is master DIY'er (to me anyways) and my parents volunteered to use their spring break from work to come down and help us put up the board and batten.What a sacrifice!

The week before my parents arrived, Cody & I painted the top half of the nursery grey. At first the grey didn't look grey at all. It looked baby blue and I was freaking out. So Cody calmed me down and he finished with the second coat and it looked grey in some lights and blue in others. I was really nervous. Grey is a hard color!!!

Let's just say that Cody does not enjoy home diy projects but I think he feels more confident now after helping my Dad.

Step #1 - Paint walls

Step #2 - Remove existing baseboards

Step #3 - Put in new baseboards

Then panic that this is going to be a lot more work than expected

(also notice how the walls look baby blue and below they look grey. It all depends on the lighting)

Step #4 - Put up smooth paneling

So much measuring and cutting and measuring and cutting. I had no idea! 

Step #5 - Put up rail 

 Step #6 - Put up vertical boards

Then have two little cute studs check the wall for studs and double check the calculations

Step #7 - Put up ledge and cove molding 

Step # 8 - Putty holes and sand everything

Step #9 - Caulk all cracks and boards okay pretty much everything

Step #10 - Prime everything

Step #11 - Paint everything

Step #12 - Touch up between walls and ceiling

Step #13 - Touch ups between wall and ledge

Step #14 - Clean up room and breathe

What a project! You read those DIY blogs and they say oh it'll only take about 10 hours. WRONG! This was way longer than 10 hours. Thankfully my Dad was able to get all the wood up and caulk before his spring break was up. Cody and I tried our best to prime and paint and do all the touch ups. 

I love how it turned out and am so grateful for my Dad's hard work. We also have some pretty awesome neighbors who let us borrow tools we needed. 

So now you're probably wondering what the nursery looks like all decorated... you'll have to wait but here's a sneak peek!

Pregnancy Update

Finally I know!! This poor baby girl has no photos of my growing belly or info about how the pregnancy is going. Which I'm sure she really cares about! :)

Well... we found out that Baby #3 is a GIRL back in January! Sorry it took me so long to announce it but I'm pretty sure everyone already knew that from Facebook. Here are some cute pics of our little baby girl!

This is her yawning. She is such a wiggly little thing! She wouldn't stop moving during the ultrasound and between her moving and the ultrasound tech pushing all over my belly I was sore after the ultrasound. 

Just some random facts about this pregnancy that I don't want to forget 

• I don't have the dark line on my belly. It's weird not having one. I had a really big dark one with the twins. 
• I felt her first move at 16 weeks and Cody first could feel her kicks at about 20 weeks. 
•  I crave junk food. Anything and everything salty, crunchy, sweet, and fattening.
• I've been able to exercise this pregnancy and it feels so weird that I'm not stuck to a couch. 
• I've had crazy pressure and pain since 20 weeks in my pelvic bones. She is sitting really really low and I can definitely feel it.
• I guess I need to do more kegal exercises cause when I sneeze oh man... TMI I'm sure. 
• I have the worst sciatic nerve pain. I will get up from sitting and I'll practically fall to the ground cause my right leg doesn't work.
• I love apples and pears and strawberries right now. Pretty much fruit. Veggies aren't really cutting it for me this pregnancy. I want everything to be sweet and more sweet.
• I'm hungry all the time. I dream about food and I think about food all day long. It's craziness!! It's worse when I exercise so I wonder why even exercise if it makes me eat more. Hmmm 
• I have had a cold this whole pregnancy. Not a horrible one just runny nose and congestion sometimes.

 And here you go... the dreaded belly shot that I look so tired and chubby.

28 Weeks

The Nursery Board made by the amazing Annie Webb!!

My parents are coming down in a week and we are going to put up the board and batten. I'm so excited. Cause once that is up we can start decorating the nursery.

We have a couple names picked out but will wait to name her until we meet her which is scheduled for May 24th!!! Thank goodness for my OB inducing me at 39 weeks! Awesomeness!

Polka Dot Obsession

I don't know why I'm so into polka dots but I think they are just so dang cute. Anywhere we go that I see blue and brown polka dots I'm drawn to it. Good thing I'm not allowed to go shopping anymore or else we'd be in trouble.

I had to return a duplicate gift to RH.Baby.Child and I received my gift certificate today. I was so excited the first thing I did this morning was purchase a polka dot piggy... Cody thinks it's stupid but I LOVE it!I got the blue one of course, but I'm so excited for it to arrive and put it in the nursery.

Nursery Furniture

So we finally have all our nursery furniture!! After being a month late and a week of being on the phone with a stupid company who had incompetent customer service reps, we finally received our cribs!! It's really exciting to see the nursery come together although the walls and everything are bare. We're working on that! It's a little scary to see two cribs in the room... it seems more real to me that we are having TWO babies.

Here is our crib!! It's missing the crib skirt which Stacey is making for us. I wasn't about to pay $80 dollars per crib skirt. No thank you!

Here is the view from the door. It's a pretty tight fit but it'll do! Stacey is also making drapes for the window and we are working on painting letters and other things to make the room look better. We also have to figure out how to attach the crib bumper to the crib as it can't tie in the front... hmm maybe sticky stuff?

And here is the combo/dresser! It's my favorite. The cribs are convertible meaning they turn into toddler beds, day beds, and then into a full side bed as a head and footboard. We wanted cribs that converted so they grew with the boys and we didn't have to buy beds later on.

Baby Bedding and Diapers

I received my crib bedding this morning. I was so excited when the doorbell rang and it was the UPS guy! He probably thought I was so weird as I signed the paper with a huge smile on my face! I fell in love with this bedding a year ago when Annie told me to look it up. Thanks Annie!! Isn't the crib so cute! If I had all the money in the world I'd buy it but it's not practical.

Cody and I also had a first in the baby world today. We bought our first box of diapers! Woo hoo! 92 little diapers! Cody and I decided that since we're having twins and they will go through a lot of diapers we should start stocking up now. So whenever we go shopping we'll grab some diapers or something else like wipes to help the shock of buying a truck load at once.

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes one baby to go through one box of 92 diapers? I'd appreciate any advice or experience with buying diapers :)

I think my tummy is growing again, it's really tight and itches which probably means it's growing. I've had people ask how I'm doing and I'm glad we have people who are concerned with my wellbeing. I'm feeling great. I have a lot more energy then the first trimester and my nausea is all gone except for at night after taking prenatal pills. They are evil! The only things that suck are: back aches, feet hurting after being on them for too long (like grocery shopping), random sharp pains in my left side, and trouble sleeping. But I can't really complain! I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday so hopefully I'll have more news then. Hopefully good news of course.
