We're Back!

We returned last night from a relaxing week in Puerto Vallarta. As soon as you see this you'll wonder where all the pictures are but since there are 700 pictures, Cody is going to make a video and I'm thinking of putting a slide show on our side bar. Keep checking back for the video!

Our arrival to PV was interesting, our flight was two hours delayed and our luggage did not show up! My poor parents were stuck waiting at the airport for us since cell phones don't work in Mexico! So, because of our luggage mess we had to wear the same clothes on Sunday until my luggage showed up but Cody's was no where to be found. Poor guy, at least he got some new clothes out of the ordeal. His luggage finally showed up on Thursday night, thankfully!

Sunday we went to Bucerias which is a little town north of Nuevo Vallarta where our resort was. They had a flea market which was really cool. We were the only gringos (whites) there. Kinda scary at first but I relaxed and we got aguas frescas (flavored water) I got pineapple and Cody got his favorite Watermelon.

This is Cody and a little boy at the flea market. He was singing while his mother played the guitar and asking for money. It was so sad I had to give him some money. He had the cutest little voice!

Monday we laid by the pool for a while then ventured north to another little Mexican coastal town called Sayulita. While there, we ate and enjoyed the beach and decided to come back on Thursday so Cody could take surfing lessons. We then went to PV to eat dinner. We had the coolest dessert. I can't remember what it was called but the way the guy made it was amazing.

This is the guy making our dessert right in front of our table. It was bananas cooked in rum or some kind of alcohol. No worries the alcohol burns out while the flavor stays. It was amazing.
Tuesday we laid by the beach again and then in the afternoon ventured south of PV to Boca and rode a boat to a beach that can only be reached by boat. Cody and dad rented jet skis while mom and I enjoyed virgin margaritas by the beach.

Wednesday we did a canopy excursion. We rode through the air on zip lines. It was a lot of fun. We would get up to 40 miles an hour and the view was amazing. After that we got to hold a boa constrictor (freaky) and feed squirrel monkeys while they crawled all over us. It was a fun experience. Later that night we walked along the beach walk and ate ice cream. Thursday we went back to Sayulita so Cody could learn to surf. He had a blast and was pretty good for his first time.

Friday we enjoyed our last day in the sun and got burnt to a crisp. At least I did. That night we got on a boat and went to a secluded beach called Las Caletas where the movie Night of the Iguana was filmed. There we enjoyed a wonderful buffet and a show. The beach was only lit by tiki torches and candles. Very romantic. It was way fun.
Our experience flying home was a lot smoother then flying to PV. We had no trouble with our flights or baggage, the only complaint was getting off the plane and realizing it wasn't 80 degrees. Why does Utah have to be soooo cold!!

Overall we had a blast and are kinda sad to be home. We enjoyed the wonderful weather and great food. The best part was seeing Cody light up while talking to the Natives. He loved it and it definitely showed. He was so cute! It was so nice that he could speak Spanish. All the natives were impressed with his Spanish. They all told him he spoke so well and of course asked how he knew Spanish. He didn't even hesitate to tell them about his mission and the church. He loved it. Another highlight of the vacation was playing rook and dice at night till midnight. By the end of the night we were all cracking up and saying the funniest things. Must have been a reaction to the sun :) Thanks Mom and Dad for the great vacation!
